What might 'vertical time line' mean?  Does it mean that time is on the
X-axis or on the Y-axis?

If time is on the x-axis, dates go from left to right and the people are
listed vertically.

If time is on the y-axis, then the people are on the x-axis and go from
left to right.

Or is it something completely different?
