No, he's trying to get people to click on his URL. He's presumably got one
of those sites full of adverts that generates him cash per however many
number of hits he gets. There's obvious clues - a trite, simplistic but
sensible-sounding short piece of text which may or may not relate to the
subject of the group (one of the other genealogy groups got one on
fi****ng,
for example), a throwaway, gibberish email address and an invitation ot
click on an URL for more info. They turn up periodically, it's not clear
whether it's always the same chancer.
I normally ignore them.
