FamilySearch.org now has wiki, forums

by James W Anderson <jander7@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 25, 2008 at 10:03 AM

FamilySearch.org has introduced recently a new wiki, and associated
forums.

The wiki is being built daily, as we speak even. There will be pages
for very nearly every county in the US and regions within most
countries as well. Most right now are stub pages needing content to
be added to them letting everyone know what is out there as far as
genealogical resources for and from them.

The wiki uses MediaWiki software, so if you have ever worked in
Wikipedia, it will be familiar to you.

On Monday, a new forums page was started as well. Initially the areas
covered will be broad, but they plan to split the areas into their
component countries or states and provinces once enough traffic starts
to warrant that.

There is not a single sign-in (login) for both yet, so you will want
to register for both. They will eventually have a consolidated
login. You will need to register at the wiki in order to edit pages
within it to add the content needed.
