Just about anything is better. PAF is free, as is a version of Legacy.
But many people prefer the features of programs that they pay for,
such as the premium version of Legacy, TMG (The Master Genealogist) or
RootsMagic.
There are also other programs that I'm not that familiar with.
I prefer RootsMagic (tried all that I mentioned as well as FTM). And,
RM gives you the ability to convert from FTM to RM very easily,
including the ability to extract images from your FTM file (which you
can't even do with FTM).
