Steve,
What is this time delay you speak of? I don't experience any, and my
hardware is not bleeding edge by any means. Even with a GUI word
processor there's no delay, and when I run text-based lifelines for
genealogy, none there either of course. I suspect there's a problem of
some kind at your end, but the keyboard is not its cause.
Keyboards are very much a matter of personal taste. Because I like a
heavy solid keyboard that I can bang away at as if in anger as I do
rapid input, I have always used the old IBM Model M keyboard tanks (the
old XT keyboards), which can be purchased cheap (I paid $5 each for half
a dozen of them) (older ones need a serial-PS/2 adapter). Some people
love them; some hate them (high resistance key stroke; clickety noise).
You should first determine if you prefer the capacitive or membrane
switch type. There's quite a difference between these basic keyboard
types, and you will love one and hate the other.
One way to decide among keyboards is to go to
www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010290063%201084307070%201084407073&name=Standard
and read the reviews there. Also, there is no better place to purchase
computer equipment than Newegg.
