Let's start by devising a better data structure than GEDCOM.

For instance look at the names for Dublin.  We see that it quite plainly 
doesn't handle titles.  "de Burghs" come up twice each, once correctly 
and once with "de" as a forename.  And what do we make of "CLARE, 
RICHARD EARL OF"?  The fact is that GEDCOM is set up to handle a 
particular name format used in one culture at one time.  You're using it 
to handle stuff from all over the world and over a time duration of at 
least a millennium.

For another instance in York****re we have 16 entries for Henry de Bohun 
and a further 9 for Henry VIII de Bohun.  Would it not be better if 
there were a means of weeding out duplicates?

Yes, there would be good value in sites like this but we need a far 
better foundation on which to build them.
