>From there, in the marriage records of St John the Baptist church in
Warren:
Romeo Joseph Brochu (bap1 Sep 1892 in Berthier, Montmagny, son of Cyrille
Brochu and Agnes Mercier) married on 15 Feb 1915 at St Jean Baptiste to
Marie Anne Elizabeth Messier (bap 22 Feb 1894 in Warren RI daughter of
August Messier and Mathilde Dion)
Children of Romeo Brochu and Marie Anne Messier found in St Jean Baptiste:
Antoinette bap 16 Feb 1920 at St J.B., married Ludger Alphonse Morin 28
Nov
1940 at St J.B.
Marie Therese Agnes married Albert George John Robel 17 Feb 1933 at St

In the "blue" Drouin index Cyrille Brochu (son of Xavier Brochu and and
Marcelline Blais) married in Berthier on 22 Nov 1882 to Agnes Mercier (dau
of Etienne Mercier and Marguerite Lemieux)
In addidion to Romeo Joseph, other children of Cyrille and Agnes in the St
J.B. records are:
Alexandre bap 15 Aug 1895 in Berthier married Delia Beauregard 23 Apr 1917
in St J.B.
Alice married Augustin Messier (brother of Marion/Marie Anne) on 17 Jun
1907
in St J.B.
Cyrilla married Romeo Gagnon 8 Jan 1908 in St J.B.
The marriage of Auguste Messier and Mathilde Dion is rather obscure as it
does not appear in the "blue" Drouin nor the Rhode Island or Massachusetts
indices of vital records. However, in "La Paroisse Saint Jean Baptiste de
Warren Etate du Rhode-Island (1877-1952)" by Ulysse Forget, published by
Imprimerie Populaire Limitee, Montreal, 1952 there is a recensement
(parish
census) for 1895 with the following entry:
August Messier bap 1864 in St Charles son of Hubert Messier and Euphemie
Poudret married i1883 in White Rock to Mathilde Dion bap 1867 in St
Vallier
dau of Majorique Dion and Hermine Goudreau. NOTE WELL there is a White
Rock
as an unincor****ated village in Westerly, RI but the Auguste Messier -
Mathilde Dion marriage does not appear in any available publication for
nearby parishes. Also, Westerly is near the Connecticut border so it's
possible they went there to marry.
The parish census cited above identifies 5 children of Auguste and
Mathilde:
Mathilde born 1884 in White Rock
Auguste born 1886 in St Antoine (?Quebec?)
Rosalba born 1888 in Wauregan
Marie Elizabeth born 1893 in Warren
Charles Antoine born 1894 in Warren
Arthur born 1895 in Warren
Children of Auguste Messier and Mathilde Dion from the St J.B. marriage
records:
Augustin married Alice Brochu 17 Jun 1907
Marie Anne Elizabeth married Romeo Joseph Brochu 15 Feb 1915
Marie Eva Regina married Joseph Antoine Albert 27 Jun 1921
Philippe Jeffrey married Marie Blanche Dallaire 26 Jun 1937
Rose Alba Celina married Albert Romeo Gariepy 16 Feb 1914
Note: Rose Alba's marriage record indicates she was bap 27 Jan 1889 in New
York while the 1900 US census indicated she was born Jan 1889 in French
Canada but the above cited 1895 parish census indicates she was born 1888
in
Wauregan. Thus the location of White Rock where her parents were
supposedly
married in 1883 will take a bit of digging.
Finally, from the "blue" Drouin: Hubert Messier (son of Joseph and Marie
Geoffrion/Geoffinet) married on 9 Oct 1849 at St Charles to Euphemie
Poudret
(dau of Basile and Marie Anne Hebert), and Majorique Dion (son of Joseph
and
Madeleine Fournier) married on 7 Jan 1864 in Notre Dame de Buckland to
Hermine Goudreau (dau of Charles and Madeleine Bernier)
Hope this gets you started <G>....does the T in jst2swt4 stand for
Travers?
