No, it was not. "inhumation dans la cave" (not le cave) is a matter
of being notorious, for example a good friend of the church, mayor
(or the equivalent for that time, like captain of milicia), rich,
lord (seigneur), etc.
This was later forbidden for obvious reasons (it was smelling and
not healthy).
