Subject: Re: GEN-DE What Is Area Considered
Hi Robert,
You refer to your topic: Old German Script which was recently transcribed
here in an excellent way by Robert Behen, right?
An excerpt from in this do***ent says: [snap] .... aus der
Oberbauerschafft
Kirchspiels Lübbecke gebürtige zehnjährige Dienstknecht in
Rabber....[snap]
In case I remember it correctly you translated this text part as [snap]
.....in an upper farmin community in the Church District of
Lübbecke...[snap]
I am sorry, Robert but that translation is wrong since "Oberbauerschaft"
is
just a place name (it's a village still existing today - and therefore
this
word is not to be translatable) in the surroundings of the place
"Lübbecke".
A correct translation of this text ****tion would instead be:
[snap]....from
Oberbauerschaft in the Church District of Lübbecke....[snap]
Hope that helps.
You're welcome,
Vera

GEN-DE What Is Area Considered
Hi List,
I have an ancestor where it states he was born "in an upper farming
community in the Church District of Lübbecke". Can someone tell me what
would this farming community be considered?
thanks,
robert
