Re: GEN-DE Assistance with German Record

by "Vera Nagel" <vpanews@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 15, 2008 at 08:58 PM

Ok, now I got it, Richard. Sorry, my misunderstanding.

In this record the end of this place name in question for me clearly reads
.....bürck.
I thought this may simply be a spelling variation or say a spelling error
because ....bürck and ....bürg in German are pronounced very, very similar
if not to say totally identical.

The first letter of this word for me looks like an "N" followed by an "e"
and next followed by an "u" with a curved line above it.

So I read "Neubürck" and this could well be considered to be a spelling
variation of the obviously existing Oberamt "Neuenbürg" (as I said: this
is
the current spelling!!) to be found on the webpage I already provided.

That's the story. :-))

Vera

I was there before and also now I only see Neuenbürg. I meant how you
got the older form of "Neubürck". That part of the transition escapes me
still. Although I didn't search for "Neubürck" after your post (my
laziness). Based on what I found thusfar on internet there is no lead
leading from Neuenbürg to Neubürck. That is there where I'm puzzled in
your lead.

Regards,
Richard

(P.S. I can read and write German also but are more acquainted with
English).
