Thanks to everyone who has replied and particularly for that - I had
scoured Google but found nothing. I think he may be our man - I need
to see what further details of him survive anywhere. Louisa was a
professional singer on the London stage who had certainly been
successful a few years earlier. So if he was in London teaching
singing they could well have got together.

It suddenly dawned on me that the date of the marriage may be
significant - June 29th 1870 and by licence (i.e in a hurry). The
Franco-Prussian war broke out 19th July. It may be that war clouds
were gathering and Ferdinand (perhaps a reservist?) felt the need to
return home. So he and his sweetheart got married quickly and they
returned together.
