When I first visited Santa Eulalia de Vigil in Pola de Siero, Asturias,
northern Spain, there to research my father's Spanish roots, I was totally
confused to find bag pipes, kilts and Shepherds Pie!! What?? In Spain?
Then when I had dinner with a distant relative and saw that he had greener
eyes than my Scottish background wife, I thought I'd gone to a different
planet! Point is, I misunderstood the nation of Spain and had to learn it
is also a
melting pot of different peoples including the Celts from central Europe.
The same folk as in Scotland, Wales, and northern Spain. Now I learn from
these
e-mails that there were Celts in Italy who came from Spain (who came from
central Europe). And on and on it goes.
Point is, we have such false stereo types about genealogy. Studying,
being
rigorously honest in both re****ting and embracing facts will lead to the
realization that in some way, somewhere, to some extent most of us are
related!
Fascinating.
