Three of the great-great-grandparents of count Armfelt
seemingly were not armigerous:
25 mamsel Eva Larsdotter, who was wife of
/kyrkoherde/, head pastor, of Gistad, and of commoner
origins
27 Margareta Larsdotter, who was wife of the man who
became created 1st Lord Rosenberg in so-called
/brevadel/
and
24 reverend Nicolaus Laurentii Winnerstadius, head
pastor of Gistad, whose son received noble
Coat-of-Arms (Wennerstedt), but who himself was
seemingly never armigerous
The other 13 great-great-grandparents apparently were
armigerous.
One (or possibly two) were created noblemen; the rest
inherited Arms from one's noble father.
Still, possibly as many as 4 of the 13 were not born
armigerous, but became that through an ennoblement of
oneself or one's father.
In 1600s, the so-called Swedish empire went through a
remarkable expansion, which seems to have meant also a
huge expansion in numbers of nobles. Ennoblement was
one of ways to compensate (pay wages... of) one's
service in the government - often as military officer,
and occasionally as civil servant.
Only rarely, a noble family in 1700s did not have any
created noble of 1600s among its forefathers...
