One of my other lines I have is very fascinating to me because of the
intermarriages. I descend from Evan Ragland who married Susanna Pettus in
Virginia. He was the first of the Ragland line which goes back to Sir
Thomas ap William and his three sons who are all my grandfathers because
of their intermarriages.
Sir Thomas ap William starred building Raglan Castle and his son Sir
Thomas ap William who took the surname Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke added
building it to it in the 1460's. If you google Raglan Castle you can see
pictures of it today as it is still a tourist attraction in Gwent,
Monmouth****re, Wales.
Sir Thomas ap William 1356-1438 m Maud Morley, daughter of Sir John
Morley:
They had three sons who are all three my grandfathers:
Sir Willam ap Thomas who took the surname of Herbert, who was the 1st
Earl of Pembroke m Gwaldus Gam, daughter of Sir David Gam.
Isabella Verch howell m John Carne
Howell Carne m Cecile Kemeys
Mary Carne m Thomas Ragland
John Lewis Ragland m Alice Kingsonn
Thomas Ragland m Marie Ingram
Thomas Ragland m Jane Morgan
Evan Ragland m Susanna Pettus
Another son of Sir Thomas ap William:
Howell ap Thomas .. goes to Isabella Verch Howell and John Carne
The third son is :
Jevan ap thomas m Margaret Grant
Robert ap Jevan m Joan Clerke
Lewis Raglan m Jane Evan
Robert Ragland m Alice Mathew
Thomas Ragland m Mary Carne... ties up with the other same grandparents.
Also, Thomas Ragland and Jane Morgan is very interesting. They are the
parents of Evan Ragland the first one to Virginia.
The Morgan line :
Thomas Ragland m Jane Morgan d 1728
Evan ap James Morgan m Maud unknown
James Morgan m Mary Jenkyn
Thomas Morgan 1513-1565 m Cecelia Herbert 1519-1599
George Herbert m Elizabeth Berkeley
Thomas Bekeley m Elizabeth Neville
George Neville m Margaret Fenne
Edward Neville m Elizabeth Beauchamp
Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmoreland m Joan Beaufort
John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster m Catherine Swynford De Roet
Edward III, Pilippa Queen of England
Edward II, Isabelle, Priness of France
Edward I (Lomgshanks) m Eleanor, Princess of Castile
Henry II, m Elbenore, Countess of Provence
John Lackland m Isabella de Taillefer
Henry II m Elbenre, Princess of Aquitaine
Geoffrey V, Le Bon, Plantagenet m Msatilda, Empress of Germany
Henry I Beauclerc, ( William the Conqueror) m Matilda Princess of
Scotland
Malcolm III, King of Scotland
As I said my lines intermmarried so much they drive me up a wall
sometimes. Only my FTM can keep them straight... and it is a WORKING one.
I joined this list in case there might be some errors that I need to
correct.
