Hi Will,
William Skipwith (1488 - 7 Jul 1547) of South Ormsby, Lincoln****re
married twice to Elizabeth Tyrwhitt (c.1487 - c. 1520) of Kettelby,
Lincoln****re, England and secondly to Alice Dymoke ( - 29 Jun 1549) of
Scrivelsby, Lincoln****re. The Virginia branch of the Skipwith descend
from the marriage to Alice Dymoke . A son William Henry becoming the
Skipwiths of Prestwould. The line from the other marriage is where I
think the Fulwar marriage occurs a generation or so later in the
Skipwiths of Hagnaby. Yet the Virginia Skipwiths use the Fulwar name
commonly. Was there an additional Fulwar marriage that I am missing? I
may well have missed one. The use of the name Fulwar in the Hagnaby
line makes perfect sense. I am just trying to understand why the
Virginia branch used the name? This family is convoluted enough to
turn my brain to mush.
Thanks for any insight.
Susan, descendant of at least three Humberston Skipwiths
