| I haven't followed this thread, so I don't know what research has already
been done. But if it is thought this person came from Shrop****re, here
are
a few random thoughts.
P.C.C. wills can be checked through Do***ents Online.
A possible step might be to look at the Protestation returns (1641/2) for
that county. An appendix to the 5th re****t of H.M.C. (1876) lists which
returns have survived. Males over the age of 18 were required to take the
Oath of Protestation, so with luck you might find possible fathers. There
is also a nearly contem****ary source of Contributions for Irish Distressed
Protestants (1642) at the T.N.A. in SP 128. In theory there was a
collection in every parish. Again survival rates vary. The Shrop****re
Hearth Tax returns are in print and, although about 30 years later, they
might still offer a clue.
Information from one or more of the above could provide clues which could
be
followed up in specific parish registers. But perhaps what is most needed
is some luck with a will, to establish a link with the man who emigrated.
The ecclesiastical court would vary according to which part of Shrop****re
was involved.
Perhaps someone can suggest other sources.
Best wishes,
