arter: to Thomas Corsby (abstract)
[Robert [Stewart, 1st] duke of Albany, etc, grants the lands of the barony
of Bowne, sheriffdom of Berwick, to Thomas Corsby, son and heir of Thomas
Corsby; which lands belonged to Thomas Corsby, the father, and which he
resigned by his letters patent at Holyrood Abbey at the time of the
general
council held there; and he quitclaimed all right to them in perpetuity.
Thomas and his heirs are to hold the said barony lands of the king and his
heirs in fee and heritage, by all their rightful boundaries and divisions,
etc., as freely as his father or any of his predecessors did before the
resignation. Thomas [the father] reserves the freehold of the said lands
for
the term of his life. Thomas [the son] and his heirs are to make the
customary service to the king and his heirs, saving that he will be held
to
pay the relief of the said lands after the death of his father. In
testimony
of which Albany orders the seal of his office to be appended to the
charter.
