I've recently noticed there is a good little note by Mrs. John Barclay
in NEHGR, 119:92-94, "The Children of John2 Carver of Marshfield,
Mass.," which shows that a 1696 do***ent in Bristol County Deeds
mentions Carver's daughter Mercy and her husband John ****ter. So this
connection is correct.
Once again, I should point out an entry in the extracted IGI that has
a very high likelihood of being the baptism of this same John2 Carver,
a known son of Robert and Christian (----) Carver of Plymouth Colony:
St Mary Whitechapel, Stepney
--John Carver, son of Robert and Christian, bapt. 12 Dec. 1636
John Carver of Marshfield was buried 3 June 1679, "being 42 years
old," which is completely consistent with the baptism above. The
unusual name of the mother ("Christian") also makes this
identification likely.
