My Afr-Amer ggg-grandfather was surnamed Polite, who lived in Suwannee
county, Florida. He is recorded as having died in the 1940's at age
104. I'm trying to find out about the existence of any Polite family
who owned slaves in Florida in the 1800s. I learned that most Polites
came from Italy, and were farmers by occupation.
Does anyone know of a source of linking Polite slaveowners with my
grandfather? Thanks.
