Hypocritical banning. Library related forums enthusiasts.

by Don Saklad <dsaklad@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 19, 2007 at 02:04 PM

The hypocritical bans http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ban_%28law%29
of library enthusiasts are a good example of a bad example.
Banning contributors to the exchanges of library related forums on the
web, listserv email lists and such censors the exchange of ideas
particularly controversial contributions and dissent.
Moderating of the publib list at http://lists.webjunction.org/publib/
hampers the innovative ideas that raise the irc of other participants.

Libraries need more innovative people contributing their ideas and
critique. The kind of professionalisation seen in the library fields
have lead to suppression of good ideas that would improve our cities'
public libraries. The library schools' curricula are mind numbing
rather than good philosophical and theoretical examinations of the
library fields. Library schools' have failed to develop
interdisciplinary curricula with the academics and professionals of
other related fields, for example architecture and urban planning.
